Also upstairs are a large bathroom and separate toilet, and the therapy room where many of the massages and treatments take place. Downstairs is a very large room with a comfortable sofa in front of an open fireplace. It is here that we practice yoga whilst the Great Hall is being renovated. Leading off of this room is the kitchen which is often a shared space for lunches during special retreat holiday weeks. Set in the grounds of the beautifully restored 11th to 13th Century Chateau de Menvielle, the Grange was originally the farm building for the chateau. A huge wine press outside and a sign "Les Deux Clos" (vinyard in Basque) near the old church at the end of the garden indicate it's past history in wine production. Restored 15 years ago, the Grange accommodation was until recently the private residence of an Italian count, and studio facilities for a series of Australian artists visiting the Arts Foundation run from the Chateau. The artists have left artwork, their paintings and a number of sculptures to be discovered throughout the restored gardens and woodlands, many of horses, another passion of the Chateau's owner.
