Here is some useful information about getting to Retreat au Chateau from France, the UK and other countries. We are well served by airports and carriers, including low budget airline Ryan Air who fly from Bristol and Stanstead to Pau Pyrenees. Arriving by train is also a good option using the TGV and Eurolink through the Eurotunnel from London. Hire cars are readily available in Pau, Tarbes and Lourdes if you do not drive down through France to reach us, and a car will allow you to get up into the mountains and explore the region.

Getting Here from the UK

The easiest point of arrival is Pau airport with low cost flights available from Stanstead and Bristol with budget airline Ryan Air. EasyJet and BMIBaby also fly to the area. We can arrange transport from the airport for you – very easy and trouble-free. It is also possible to fly to Toulouse Airport or Lourdes/Tarbes Airport, to drive down through France by car, or to catch the superfast TGV train from Paris with links from London via the Eurotunnel. Retreat au Chateau is a perfect destination for a leisurely journey down through France. Please phone us for more details.

By Train

Travel options to France have increased dramatically in the last decade or so with the opening of the Channel Tunnel and the onslaught of budget flight options to France, not only to Paris but to many of the main provincial cities as well. This puts previously out-of-reach places like the Cote d’Azur firmly in line with the more traditional top weekend destinations. The transport system within France is also excellent, trains and buses cover much of this large country at very reasonable prices and the TGV trains mean you can get from Paris to Marseille in around three hours.
